A Wealth of Opportunities (RP for cyke_out)
Scott didn’t like receiving gifts. Warren had learned that fact years ago, after the fifth time Scott’s forehead had wrinkled up at the sight of a new pair of sneakers or first edition book. Warren had quickly chalked the reaction up to Scott’s incurable modesty, and tried his best to cut down on giving his friend extravagant presents from then on.
But some things just had to be done, and buying Scott a new suit was one of those things. It wasn’t that Emma had dressed him badly; some of his suits were actually completely serviceable, if a little worn. But Scott wasn’t with Emma anymore. The man deserved some new clothes, clothes not tainted by their association with his ex-girlfriend. Some flattering, well-cut clothes that would show the world that he was a gorgeous, confident, completely desirable guy even without Emma Frost on his arm.
Ideally, Warren would have wanted to get a suit designed specifically for Scott - Ralph Lauren had done some genius things with wing-compatible jackets in the past that had gotten him special runway acclaim, and Warren was sure he could call in a favor - but he knew that was probably one of those extravagances that would just make Scott uncomfortable. Instead, he settled for the stylish confines of Kinsley and Company in downtown Boulder, with its extensive Hugo Boss collection.
When they’d reached the store, Warren told his driver to return in an hour or so and stepped out of the car, slinging an arm around Scott’s shoulders.
“So,” he said, gesturing toward the displays in the store’s plate glass windows with his free arm, “do you have anything in mind?”
Warren wasn’t about to let Scott’s fashion sense dictate the shopping trip, but they had to start somewhere.
