Especially since I have so little opportunity to talk to you all now, and I haven't really posted anything since I got to Oklahoma, I thought I should go into a few things.
1) FAOBC is apparently one of the hardest OBC courses in the Army, second only to flight school. Although it really hasn't been to difficult yet. I've kind of settled into a groove, and I've got a good group of battle buddies to pull through this thing with. I don't think honor grad will be to much to expect come March. Which brings me to...
2) Pre-Ranger. I want to be an airborne ranger. Although I'm sure none of you have a real grasp about what Ranger school is all about, I am determined to get that tab, and the best chance to go to Ranger school is to get a slot out of here. At the moment, without having officially started Pre-Ranger, its already busting my ass. But I refuse to quit.
3) BOHICA - Bend over here it comes again. You know, I've come to find screwing me over is just what the army does. This is not new, this is not unexpected. I did not expect to get my first branch choice - but it was made known to me that the majority of this years camp commissionees were used to fill the shortages in the Field Artillery, among other branches. I understand that I am subject to the needs of the Army, although there are other branches higher on my list that had the need as well. Charlie-Mike, continue mission, complete the objective - and I'll avail myself to the opportunities that are available down the line.
4) Lawton sucks. -I am in part a small town boy, so its not too bad for me, although I can certainly see why people become alcoholics here. It is large enough that there are things to do, but not a lot. Maybe that is why I've bought 10 DVDs since I got here.
5) Damn I need a car. I'm working on it, but Saturday is basically the only day where I even have a chance to go to a dealer ship. I'm looking right now at a 2006 Escape... it would have been nice to be able to pick up a 2005 before I left... but those are the breaks. If any of you have any advice on the subject, or anything else, leave a comment :)
That's all I can think to go into now.
