[Phone call to Astrid, failed filter because he still can't figure it out]

Hey, Astrid? I uh... had a question.

[Action, mid afternoon]

[It is a beautiful spring day and Hiccup is sitting out on the front lawn with a screwdriver.

No, not that kind of screwdriver, an actual screwdriver ( Read more... )

[ A car pulls up in front of the house, where it sits silent for a moment.

And then it talks. ] Are you using a screwdriver on your leg?

[He's never seen a car like that before. It's pretty awesome. It's already got his attention by the time it comes to a stop. When it talks though, that's when Hiccup jumps about a foot in the air. Yes. Even from a seated position. He's talented like that.

Anyway, the screwdriver goes flying and he fumbles to try to catch it and just barely manages to do so.]

Uh... yeah?

[ Jolt shrinks back a little ] Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you.

[There is a car. A weird, strange car. Talking to him. Hiccup's kind of in shock right now.]

It's... it's okay? I just... never had a car talk to me before.

Ah. Right. I just just figure driving around like this is less of a shock than the alternative.

[ a pause ] You're Hiccup, right?

[Okay he's too curious not to ask. Although it sounds... ominous.]

What's the alternative?

...yeah, I'm Hiccup.

The alternative is a 25-foot-tall robot. [ he chuckles ]

We've spoken before. I'm Jolt.

...twenty-five... [Congrats, you broke his brain. Okay not really because he fought the Milkmech, but still. There is a reasonably sized car in front of him. How can that car turn into a giant robot?]

Oh. Yeah. I remember you. Um. I didn't know you were a car. Robot. Uh.

Yeah. It's a little hard to picture, isn't it?

... I wasn't a robot. I mean I was. I am, usually. Mayfield turned me into a human when I got here. I just regained my body after that whole April Fool's fiasco.

Really hard to picture. That's pretty crazy.

... I could show you. I mean, if it wouldn't freak you out too much.

[Hiccup hesitates.]

...it probably would freak me out, yeah, but I'd like to see it. Doesn't have to be right now, though. I guess. I dunno. Whatever.

Your call. [ he shifts, rising on his chassis slightly- the car equivalent of a shrug ] Whenever.

... If you don't mind my asking, what happened to your leg?

worstvikingever April 18 2011, 06:41:27 UTC
[OH right his leg.]

Nothing that happened here. This was something that happened back home, but when I got here it was... normal. Then I got an empty package and my leg vanished. So. Back to the way it's supposed to be, I guess.

I see. That's kind of a bummer.

[He shrugs.]

It's not really a big deal. Well, okay it kind of is, but this is how it's supposed to be, so I'm not really bothered by it.
