So you know what's almost as good as an orange? A pluot. I used to think i was pronounced with a silent t, but then I realized that it's a cross between an apricot and a plum, and it's really not getting a fancy name or anything like that. There are a lot of different types, though, and the skin can range from red to purple to orange to kinda green

I never have! We had enough trouble with normal crops, so I don't think making...hybrids was much of a priority for anyone.

Maybe you could ask the Admiral for some seeds? Or you could try the CES for trees that are already there, but...does it count as being manmade if it's a tree as well?

[IDEK if they'd cultivated apricots by then, but this is a show which features tomatoes despite their absence from Britain until the 16th century, so clearly this is a canon with no fucks to give.]

[ALL FRUITS WERE ALWAYS AROUND FOREVER, the end.] They have to make the trees grow the fruit. Pluots grow on trees. Small ones, usually, but they're pretty cool. I don't know that they'll show up in the wild, though.

Not that it wouldn't be awesome.

It was more violent - there was a riot, right at the very end. The Infirmary was attacked, we had to set up safehouses in people's cabins...

[And he straight-up brainwashed someone, which even in the circumstances he still considers one of his least-fine hours.]

It was just worse. But this time...I think there were enough people unaffected who remembered last time well enough to try to stop it going that way again.

That's good. I don't know what I would have done if it had been like that this time. Or lasted longer.

I've learnt it's best not to spend too much time on what-ifs on the Barge. We have to live through enough of them as it is.
