Math Rock. The so called “Smart Rock". Math Rock is a wonderful and glorious thing; and it is exactly how it sounds....just not so dumb. Now I know that many of you have no idea what Math Rock is and are therefore saying “Wtf Mates?". Simply said... Math Rock is a variation on rock that uses non-linear equations to express chord progression. Sound complicated? Not really....for those of you who don't know what a non-linear equation is: A non-linear equation is an equation that is used to show something that is not a tangible object or figure. That is to say where a linear equation often times shows a geometric shape, such as a triangle, a non-linear equation shows something like water coming off of a propeller. Got it? You'd better because I'm moving along. Now when I say that it expresses chord progression I mean that the equation dictates where the song goes....the song may be going one way with the beat and then suddenly just shift to a completely different beat. So here we have the beat going...and then with no warning the song shifts its entire sound to be something else. I'd show it graphically but since I can't upload pictures from my computer onto LJ's image thing it just doesn't work. Questions?
