Right over here Character Information
General
Canon Source: Trigun
Canon Format: Anime
Character's Name: Zazie the Beast (aka Bete)
Character's Age: around 7 to 10 years old
Conditional: Even though he's a kid Zazie is pretty well prepared for the horror setting. Planet Gunsmoke is already a wretched hive of scum and villainy. On top of bandits being everywhere who are not afraid to loot, shoot, and enslave any town or person the come across, the planet is also made up entirely of desert with such lovely natural dangers such as quicksand and giant sandworms that can destroy entire towns and plow through any manner of rock like it's nothing. He's already lost his parents, has questionable sanity, controlled said giant monster sandworms and attempted to kill.
What form will your character's NV take? The frequency device he used to control the sandworms! Of course it's been modified instead to be a communications device. It's basically a glorified tape recorder, so all of his entries will be voice all all posts regardless of format will be translated into voice. (video posts will simply have the visual feel and as for written posts... you know how macs have that sort of terrible playback feature where you type something in and it the computer talks out, usually mispronouncing words along the way? It's like that. (unfortunately I don't actually have a program like that so I can't actually hear what kind of zany mispronunciation's it would have so I guess we'll just go with every written sounds like it's being narrated by Stephen Hawking)
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Zazie himself has no canon special abilities. Physically he's about the same as any child. He does have some shooting skills (he wields two pistols) and had a device that controls sandworms (that was later shot and destroyed by Vash) but aside from knowing how to use those two weapons doesn't have any special abilities.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? Basically, the same ability he has in both versions of Trigun: the ability to communicate with and control insects. If it's alright with the mods this would include the insect based monsters around the port. Because he is a child (and not a very mentally stable one at that) these powers would be difficult for him to master, taking a lot of time to develop into something usable assuming he discovers the power to begin with. Also he would be limited to species that he comes into contact with on at least a somewhat regular basis in order to master their language of sorts. Ultimately this would translate into at most being able to control a small number of the pettier bug monsters such as Gutter Roaches and crystal spiders, rather then a full fledged bug army attack on the city, no matter how much he would actually want to do that.
Weapons: He'll just have his two pistols and whatever bullets are still left in them on him.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Unfortunately Zazie is introduced in, and dies in, the exact same episode so we have very little to go on. While he does obviously have some history with the Gung-ho-Guns, this history is never shown or even described in any detail.
The first time we see Zazie in his episode, he is known as Bete and is found by Vash while he is attempting to steal his water canteen. When he was caught, he tried to run away, however not being the most graceful and coordinated of children he tripped on himself. Though, that didn't matter much anyways as Milly would not let him pass until he said thank you regardless. He caved in and thanked Vash for the water, and afterwards ran off into what seemed like just another expanse of desert wasteland. He was then followed by Vash and friends to where he was living, which was an abandoned house that was used as shelter by a group orphans. Initially they didn't trust them at first, throwing everything they could at them, until Wolfwood gave them their emergency food supplies.
It was after this that they decided to spend a little of their time with the orphans, and Vash quickly learns that they had all been left behind when Legato puppetered all of the residents of the neighboring towns to abandon their homes and wander aimlessly into the desert. Vash, Wolfwood, and the insurance girls decide to stay and help these orphans for a little while longer.
Their time with the orphans was mostly peaceful. All of the orphans ("Bete" included) helped Milly and Meryl with the chores that needed to be done, had a huge super together, and generally had a lot of fun. At night however when all of the children had fallen asleep, Bete began crying in his sleep due to having a nightmare about his parents. Meryl comforts him and the next morning the house is attacked by the townsfolk who initially turned them away because they believe Vash and the others are responsible for the attacks Legato and Midvalley had caused on the town the previous night. While the mob won't listen to Vash and the situation is turning grim, things take a different turn once sandworms attack. These attacks are highly unusual and the group separates: Milly and Meryl taking the kids to the town in an attempt to find shelter, and Vash and Wolfwood creating a diversion for the worms. Before the group splits Bete wishes Vash good luck.
When their diversion fails and the worms attack the town regardless Vash and Wolfwood arrive in the town as well in order to keep them safe. The kids, the girls, and Vash are all trapped on top of a building with a sandworm, while Wolfwood, Milly, and another child who ran away after peeing himself are somewhere else in town. It was as the children were running by Vash that he noticed the device behind Bete's ear was in fact a high frequency control device for the worms. Vash shot the device and the attacks stopped. When vash asked him why he would do such a thing Zazie revealed himself to be the 4th of the Gung-ho-Guns: Zazie the beast. When one of the children starts crying he points a gun at her and rants about how annoying children are for crying all the time and lacking free will. He shoots the gun out of Vash's hand, leaving him unarmed as he holds Meryl and the kids at gunpoint with one gun, and Vash at gunpoint with the other. He brags about how there was no way Vash could comprehend why he would do something so intricate, moving the gun to Meryl's head. When one of the kids (addressing him as Bete) asks what he's going he again states that his name is Zazie.
Vash however is perceptive, and tries to talk him out of the shooting. Saying that that this wasn't who he was, stating how he saw him crying the other night. This only angers Zazie and causes him too shoot Vash in the shoulder. This doesn't dissuade Vash however and he persists. Saying the demon inside him hasn't one, and reminding him of when he cheered for him earlier. Zazie tel''s him he's wrong and that as a demon he can suppress his consciousness and memory on demand. Vash says he doesn't believe that though, that he's forcing himself. Zazie yells that Vash doesn't even know who he is, pointing the gun at his head now saying that it didn't matter and he could just die thinking that. However he hesitates, and Wolfwood who had just arrived and was unaware of the full situation and that he was beginning to crack, shoots him dead on the spot.
Point in Canon: After his death, which is at the end of his episode ("ALTERNATIVE" episode 22) this creates a somewhat more "conflicted" canonpoint as just before his death Vash was trying to "reach" him and stop him from committing evil acts and Vash was winning. As of right now he's certainly less of a clear cut villain and a bit more muddled as to what exactly he wants to be doing with his life. Or well, his afterlife in this particular case. He's aware that he's dead but that shot killed him nearly instantly so he doesn't quite grasp quite how he died yet.

Character Personality: This section is mostly just excerpts of an entire character essay (that still isn't done yet) that you can read
here. For the sake of the app the parts taken only describe his personality, though, for obvious reasons you'll understand while reading: his personality is pretty confusing without some speculation to try and make sense of it. That is included in the essay if you wish to read it, I didn't include it as even though it's based off of canon evidence it's still more or less my personal interpretation of his character.
Bete is a very quiet kid, but from what we've seen of him he's generally pretty good hearted, even if he's on the timid side. In his entire appearance, he only has three spoken lines ("'m sorry, sir" which is barely audible, "Mother... and father..." which is mumbled during a nightmare, and "Hey, good luck." which is actually his only line that he actually speaks) there are plenty of times where he could have spoken, and other child characters are far more talkative. Over all though, he seems to have difficulties warming up to and speaking to adult strangers. Even the ladies that he has a softer spot for like Milly (blushing when he helped her with the laundry and when she made him thank Vash for the water).
His over all good nature was shown several times in the episode: when he thanked Vash when Milly asked him to, when he was the only child of the group not throwing things at Wolfwood when they arrived at their little house, when he helped out with the other kids with their chores. Heck, in the dinner scene he is even shown babying and wiping the face of one of the kids. The tears he shed when he was having a nightmare really shows that underneath is all he is a kid, and despite efforts to hide it and pretend it doesn't exist he is a kid who is hurting. Not to mention he even cheered Vash on when he was about to distract the sandworms that his device actually sent after them in a way that was genuine.
From the first half of the episode or so and what we see of him, the evidence truly does point to him being genuinely good. A little cold to strangers and a kid who feels the need to hide his problems. But otherwise he's pretty caring for others and a pretty big sensitive softie once you get past that.
But then, something pretty strange happens to him towards the end of the episode... His eyes lose their light, his voice deepens, and he's suddenly a lot more vicious. Claiming that he's a demon and insists that his name is Zazie the Beast and not Bete as the others address him as. This time he used the children as hostages without any hesitation or remorse. When one of the children began to cry he went on a rant about how much he hated kids for crying and lacking free will. This is the complete opposite of how he was presented previously in the episode. Zazie is arrogant, cold, and calculating. However despite the apparent value he places on free will he does not enjoy losing control over himself. He becomes infuriated when Vash insists his disbelief that this wasn't who he truly was. Now, he could have been angry at the insinuation, however his hesitation and breakthrough before his death seems to imply that rather then just a simple act that in fact both sides of his personality are (or were) in fact genuine. That he was angry not at the accusations of being fake but that these words were actually hitting a chord inside of him that was making him question himself.
With that being said this makes his personality very confusing. He is both manipulative and sincere, cruel and kind, shy and arrogant, sensitive and capable of doing evil deeds without remorse. Depending on the situation he can switch between the two conflicting personalities that he presents easily.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A Character Plans: I am for the most part interested in playing him here for the setting and for developing interesting CR with various members both inside and outside the Trigun cast. I find the idea of developing and exploring him as a character when his appearance in canon was so brief and enigmatic to be appealing. He has a lot of potential for both negative and positive relations with the residents as well as having the potential to create interesting player plots as he struggles with finding his place in the revolving door between good and evil.

[this entry is preceded by several smaller entries to the network, all of them lasting a few seconds and all of them are completely blank, save for the ordinary sounds of everyday life here at the port that were muffled slightly by a staticy hum. Make no mistake that Zazie is not at all happy with his new found capabilities of his device. Especially considering the sort of power that was exchanged for it. So, he'd rather spend his time fiddling around with it. Regardless of whether or not it could possibly annoy anyone on the network. Finally, there is a voice in an entry.]
Heh. [and then the entry is cut off again. Does he realize that each time he presses that button he's making a new entry? Probably not. Not that he would really care at any rate.]
Tell me something. Are you idiots having fun? Adjusting well to this disgusting little cage you're told to call home? [For questions, they certainly don't sound very questioning. In fact: there is a lot of venom laced behind those words. Quite frankly the idea of trying to fit into any society disgusts him, even if the dystopia of the port felt rather homey to him. His tone switching into something a little more feral now.]
Well then let me suggest that you don't get too comfortable. Not every monster comes out in the dark. [and ending the feed now, this time for good. Enjoy your cryptic message of the day folks! He will most likely check on replies later. Or, when ever the hell he feels like it. If he feels like it. Which, he probably will since to him people are fun to pick on as long as they aren't relentlessly annoying.]

It was a bizarre attraction. An unfamiliar sort of resonance that both puzzled him and struck a chord in what felt like a secret and unintelligible part of himself. Watching the butterfly lazily flit itself from flower to flower, as if it couldn't quite decide which one to drink it's dinner from. It was this feeling of connection that ultimately drew him closer, until there was hardly enough space between himself and the butterfly for it to escape should he choose to crush it in his hands.
And yet, reaching out towards the fragile creature he wasn't overcome with such a destructive impulse. Rather he was filled with a sense of curiosity. Carefully and quietly placing a finger on the flower it had been circling for some time. It was without prompting the butterfly perched on him, it's tiny legs would have felt ticklish had he not been wearing gloves. The strange sensation was even stronger now, as if some unknown force had been tugging at his conscious mind. It should have been terrifying, and yet instead he was fascinated as he was drawn into the power. Closer, deeper, father inward into this feeling.
Focusing himself on the colorful wings that had now come to a standstill as they rested. And then: for what seemed like a brief fraction of time- a flicker in his mind's eye, he was flying. Watching the city through the eyes of something as tiny as an insect. Yet, this vision was fleeting, fading out of his mind just as quickly as it had intruded. It was disappointing nearly to the point of anger. Despite that Bete found it was surprisingly difficult to kill a creature whose mind you had just inhabited no matter how brief of a time it was.
Instead, he settled for sitting quietly on the ground, silently watching the butterfly follow the invisible paths he traced through the air with his fingertip.
