When Peter was small he used to crawl into his Mum’s bed. It was the only time he remembered her cradling him and kissing his forehead. “Brave Peter,” she used to say. “The bogeyman isn’t real.”
When Peter was at school and the nightmares plagued him, he would wake up to find James shaking him. “Brave Peter,” James would whisper. “Your friends will frighten the bogeyman away.”
When Peter woke up screaming from the nightmares, his Master would be behind the wand. “Brave Peter,” his Lord would mock. “I am real, and you have no friends to frighten me away.”
