I went to a retreat last weekend for the people who are going in my group to World Youth Day. It was a sort of preparation/get-to-know-each other type deal. It actually wasn't very fun for me (mostly because everyone was younger than me and some of the leaders and I disagree with some Church views, especially when it comes to our new Pope) but I

my education and knowledge of the Catholic faith, my experiance from WYD Toronto, maturtity, and I think most importantly my openness to new people, experiances, and ideas.
2. How will you share these Gifts with other pilgrams during World Youth Day? Hopefully through trading things with people I'll be able to get to know them a little, and make some impact on at least one person's life. I'm really excited to be able to pray with everyone gathererd together, praying for each other and for any strifes that are in our lives
3. What do you want to learn from the other pilgrams? I need to be reminded that the Faith is universal, that's what Catholic means, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the people from all over the world praying in their own languages, but meaning the same thing that my words mean. I want to learn who I am through the experiances and wisdom of other people. I really hope to find a penpal on this pilgramage.
4. Will you be willing to open yourself up like the Apostles did? Like the Magi did? How will you do this? How can you see yourself changed? I've been struggling with a few things lately. Most importantly my relationship with my boyfriend and staying pure with him. We're both devout Catholics, but when you love someone so much, and know that you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, it's so hard to stay sexually pure. I'm hoping that at WYD I'll find the inspiration and strength that I need to keep that up. We've messed up in the past, and we're really trying not to, but it's difficult. I want to see myself change and come back to the basic beliefs that I once held to close to myself. I need this pilgramage for some self-asessment time.
5. Write out a self-composed prayer that has to do with WYD
Lord, I ask in your name that you watch over the pilgrams of World Youth Day as they prepare to celebrate your Word and your Faith together soon in Germany. Send the words that we young people need to hear through the voice of your servants, especially our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI. And Papa John, please watch over us as we remember you, and remember past WYD's where you were there to guide us. You still are an inspiration to us; guide us from your heavenly throne and keep us in your prayers, as we pray for you. Amen.

And quick comment, I can totally relate to you on the whole bf thing. Except mine wasnt Catholic but Baptist. We def messed up in teh past as well, but after we talked and such, its all better now. It was still super hard 4 a long time, but we found that by trying to not be in positions where anything could happen (i.e. together really late at night alone..) it helped a lot. Also by praying. He was a great guy tho and was really strong too. But good luck to you! Ill be praying for you until WYD! Cant wait! Have a lovely week!
