So!

I have been having connection issues all day.

Finally, we called our service provider and got in touch with Technical Support.

As it turns out, the problem was that the modem needed to be power-cycled.

Power cycling means 'turn it off, then back on'.

When I first got the modem, I was told in no uncertain terms that I should never turn the modem off if I wanted it to work properly.

...I'm sort of angry.
