[First there is only a paw, two paws, dainty and black and small. Yoshi has found a jigoberry again. Then there's the kitten's face, big black ears perked to full attention, and yellow eyes huge. There's the sound of a door opening and Yoshi looks up towards the source, galloping off towards it.]
Fucking cat...
[Mello's home, but he doesn't

No. I...he...it's just...Yeah, whatever.
[Because Mello is a tough guy, okay? Cuddly kittens aren't helping his image. He crosses his arms and goes back to his chocolate.]

If you say so.

Can I help you?

Have fun with your demanding friend.
[In short 'no, just saying'. That and a sort of, toe in the water gesture to see if Mello was still pissed at him from the other week.]

Matt likes him so I put up with him.
[He scratches Yoshi's head]

Silver lining - you'll always have company, whether it's wanted or not.
[The smirk is fixated it seems. He shrugs back]

It's a pretty nice silver lining, all things considered.

[Not meaning to be ominous he's just always thinking of the worst.]

Yeah, I'm worried about that too.
[He looks down at the purring kitten almost sadly as he continues to stroke him]
...It would crush Matt...

...doesn't take a genius to work out that's probably what they want.

But how far does their control go? Are they going to go after Yoshi now that we've got him or did they bring him here in the first place? How much of our everyday lives is predetermined by them? that's the real question here.

[He cocks a brow in thought for a moment, pursing his lips.]
This place has given us the feel of people that lived here before. It seems arrogant to think nothing survived here just because the humans died. Even if Akira did go around killing any animal he could find.
I would normally say call their bluff and get confrontational, however strategicaly speaking it wouldn't be wise. We don't know the full extent of their abilities and control. Pushing that just appears to be a quick way to wind up dead.

[He listens to what else he has to say]
Mm.
[And that's exactly what he wants to know. The full extent. I'm going to piece together this town's whole story, just how long it's been happening, what's happened before....
That's exactly what Mello's determined to find out.
Explaining that would be detrimental, something could be listening. Even Matt didn't know the full extent of Mello's plans. Mello wasn't still mad about the week before, some people give up, some people don't even try, some people close their eyes, Mello was not one of those people and could barely understand people who were although he knew it was common. He hoped that his silence on THIS issue would be accredited to his mood.]

[He humourlessly chuckles, tinted with bitterness.
Even if they are listening, they haven't done a thing about people who have schemed in the past (seemingly, he notes).]
While I do wish to push this, as our outcome isn't certain. I shall remain passive and do nothing more than visit the library regularly and see if there are any newspapers lying around. Unlikely, but it's still worth a shot.
Never launch an assault without being sufficiently prepared.

I don't need to be told how to plan, thanks.
