Starcrossed
Just wanted to cross post here some of my squeeing over the Justice League animated series episode arc Starcrossed.
Superman Soooo Loves Batman
The only thing that I didn't say in my journal that I started thinking about as a result of this episode was the obvious parallel between Starcrossed and the Justice League comic book arc where Batman gets voted out of the league for keeping files on everyone (jen_in_japan posted some scans of this arc in her journal recently, I believe). Starcrossed is the exact same story, except that Hawkgirl rather than Batman is the "betrayer". I find it interesting that in Starcrossed, the "couple" at issue (primary betrayer/betrayee) was HG/GL and it was explicitly romantic; in the comic, the main couple is Superman/Batman ... and it's still a romantic coupling dammit!
I just found the symmetry ironic and laden with subtext.
