That's what I use, you can sign onto any IM service with it....

I mean you still have to sign up throught AIM's official site... but, I find it to be less of a hassle than AIM Express

I use Adium on my MacBook. It also lets you use any IM service.

I've been having the weirdest problem with instant messaging. On my laptop, I get kicked out of chats randomly and frequently. I thought it was just AIM, but I recently tried Adium and another similar program, and it did the same in both.
