So, after all the recent excitement I suppose today started off pretty relaxing. I spent the night at Olympus Coliseum, and in the morning engaged in a friendly spar with
greenintern. We discovered that he’s stronger than I am, but I’m faster so it was quite an interesting match up. I think in a strait hand to hand fight with no magic he’d be more likely to beat me, since he’s had more practice fighting experienced warriors and has more endurance. I, on the other hand, have been fighting card soldiers, chess pieces, sentient ants, apple trees and of course Heartless. You know, sometimes I forget just how weird my life has become. Then I remember I have a talking sword and a battery quail.
Anyway, getting back on topic, after our spar I headed out to practice my magic. Apparently my match with
tenshi_ryuu has greatly expanded my powers. It’s like exercising a muscle in a sense, the more you use it the stronger you get. I’ve been experimenting with using my magic to enhance Marvin, creating a longer sharper ice blade over the regular one. I can also generate a cold blast strong enough to take out a Shadow Heartless in two blasts (before it took at least three very good shots if not more).
Once I was satisfied with my training I powered up the Cork and ran a patrol past Disney Castle. While that area was clear, once I hit Treasure Planet I ran into a spot of trouble. Instead of the usual Heartless patrols I ran into some space pirates. It was a medium sized cruiser which had just finished gutting a passenger liner, and it didn’t look like they spared any of the passengers.
They politely informed me that I was to surrender my ship or they would hurl me out an airlock. I felt this was a well constructed argument, but I presented an excellent counter argument in the form of blasting them with my cannon, and then racing into interspace. They had me heavily outgunned, but nothing is faster than a gummi ship. I managed to keep ahead of them, dodging and weaving, but they did get a few good hits on my aft armor. My salvation came from the strangest source; I managed to lead them into a mass swarm of Heartless ships. The universe has a twisted sense of humor. The Heartless were so occupied with assaulting the pirates that they didn’t even pay attention to me. It was a feeding frenzy.
While the Heartless dealt with the pirates I managed to circle back and find the cruise ship. It turned out the crew managed to get the kids on the ship into an escape pod before they all got spaced. Fighting the Heartless kinda makes you forget how twisted sentient beings can be. Frankly, the Heartless and them deserve each other. I got the escape pod (using, of all things, a giant suction cup on a cable) and dragged it back to a nearby spaceport. I contacted the local authorities and told them my landing systems were damaged, and that they’d have to manually take my ship in. Once the rescue ship arrived I jettisoned the cable and blasted off at full speed.
I’m back at Disney Castle, reminding myself that there is still good worth fighting for. Chip and Dale tell me they’ll have the damage to Cork repaired by tomorrow, so if anyone needs a ride let me know. If you head near Treasure Planet, watch out. There’s worse things than Heartless out there.
