*takes a deep breath* Okay, I think things are clear... for now. Thank god for my dogs; even my year old cat is helping.

So. I woke up this morning, got dressed, went to the grocery store with my mom. It's sunny and warm here, everythings okay... And then suddenly, it was like the sun went out. Everything went dark, the sky filled with the darkest clouds I've ever seen, but there was this eerie purple light to see by...

(I live in a suburb in Southern Ontario-- between Toronto and Ottawa. *gulps* I hope it hasn't reached the cities yet)

I stood at my back door, looking out, and with a plop, something landed on my back deck. It didn't look very big... the size of a large cat, maybe. My mom didn't notice -- she was going around the house, turning on all the lights. And this thing... it seemed to absorb the light. Its eyes were glowing yellow (funny, I always figured evil things had red eyes), it twitched and titled its head, and then lept for me, its claws outstretched.

Screaming, I jumped away and locked the door. It hit the glass with a thud. If it had a mouth, it would've scowled. Suddenly, more and more popped up. My mom came over to see what I was looking at, and... she just snapped.

She ran around the house, locking all the doors, closing all the windows. Then she tried to call my brother's school, but the phone lines were down. God, I hope he's okay.

The energy flickered, and I was so scared it was going to go out. We don't have much around the house-- all our tools are in the garage. We have a broom, dog toys to throw.. Guess that'll be good defense if more get through.

One got in, through the downstairs window. I'll never forget the sight of that...thing...coming through my cat's door. Luckily, one of my dogs quickly grabbed it, shaking it by its neck. She dropped it, and it lay there twitching.

That's when I realized what they were. Heartless. I rushed over to my computer, grateful it was still working, and went over to
khfanficrants , where I found this community. Guys, I'm so scared. How could this happen to us? How could it spread so quickly? We have artificial light, flash lights... weapons. We should be able to defend ourselves!

But maybe this is a sign that our world is meant to come to an end.

*hears a smashing sound, gulps* I gotta go. Everyone, wish me luck. Please, fight, and stay strong. We have an advantage-- we know what these things are. Hold onto your light (that should be our motto).

world going bye-bye, heartless
