First Person Example: It’s days like these on the Island that make me remember our old raft. I can see it every time I walk out on to the Island we used to play at just a year ago. I go less and less these days, as I’m busier, but every once in a while on a sunny day, I row out to the old play Island. I could remember myself there, and Riku too. I still wonder what happened to him. I’ve never really remembered him moving away… And…
That’s basically where it all stops, I guess. It’s hard to remember much else, but the memory, if that’s what this feeling is, feels so strange, so intrinsic. I can feel that something inside my heart’s reacting to this sudden emptiness. I think something is missing there, isn’t there?
Third Person Example:
She expected the words to come to her naturally, but what was there to say?
What kind of letter could she write to a boy that may not have even been real?
Outside Kairi’s window the fireflies swarmed about the dim lamp on the street corner, as crickets sang sweetly in the distance in tempo to the slow ticking of her alarm clock. She sighed, crumpled up another sheet of paper filled with messy scribbles, and threw it into the trashcan.
It seemed fruitless, to try to write to a mere voice that she had heard in a waking-dream.
Perhaps it was all a hallucination. After all, Selphie hadn’t heard anything, much less someone named Roxas, or… another person. His name…Started with an S, didn’t it?
At least that was something to start on.
Kairi sighed, re-sharpened her pencil. Its length had already been halved by the numerous drafts.
“Starts with an S, huh…”
An inkling of memory seemed to surface like a trapped air bubble underneath water. There was something…important…definitely. Kairi struggled, riffling through everything, both joyous and melancholy, that had occurred over the past year. Friends and enemies alike, experiences of fear and comfort flashed past her eyes, until she remembered a single word…
Promise
She began to write once more.
“Thinking of you, wherever you are, we pray for our sorrows to end…”

How active does Kairi need to be? I have a general guideline of where she’s going to be in KH2, but I’m not sure how much she’ll be interacting with people.
