I'm also gonna emphasize this. The WP events are being postponed, they're by no means called off.
No, they may be postponed. Nothing official has been stated yet because the Israeli government hasn't officially stated when they will pull out of Gaza.
It seems that as of yesterday: Following the Israeli Prime Minister's decision to postpone the launch date of the Gaza pullout to August 16, the Jerusalem Open House (JOH) today announced that the Jerusalem WorldPride events have been rescheduled, and will take place on August 6-12, 2006.
*hugs* Thank you for finding these links (is it okay to edit them into the post?) and I'm glad to see you care too! I believe when the events are held, they'll be worth the wait, though! :)
You can edit (and so can the mod, if that's not you). Go to Manage - Entries. And then type in worldpride2005 under community, optional. I'd say feel free to edit the post however you see fit, though I'm no mod.
I'll be in Jerusalem next year, too, for WorldPride. But like so many others, I've been waiting for nearly two years for this summer. Oh well. Jerusalem Pride will be on June 30th, I believe?
Will edit now, thank you for the permission! :) I'm no mod either, I'm just fangirling Sharon and a Jerusalemite (and I also help out with one of the planned events). So yes, disappointment galore here too. And yes, there will most definitely be a parade on June 30th. Will you be coming? I hope so. I get a feeling, looking at some of the comments, that the JOH are going to have a rough year because of their decision and in a sense, this would be a support parade for them. Even more important than usual.
And yes, I have lost my eloquence. Why, was I ever suspected of knowing how to start a sentence with anything other than 'yes'? ;P
Now I shall be quiet and salute you rfom afar for coming here next year. I fully understand what a yucky taste this can give and I'm glad you're not discouraged by it! *even more hugs*
I will be starting grad school in Jerusalem in June, for three years. So, yes, I will be able to make it to the parade on the 30th and next year's WP. I may even see about getting involved in JOH and such, once I'm there. See you around. [I loved how world pride twothousandfive rhymed, too....]
Best of luck to you! :D What do you wanna study? If you need any help, just say so. I'm sadly stretching my degree and will get to spend here at least another year...
[How about, "worldpride2006, still bringing people together (even though it doesn't rhyme)"? Yeah, too much of a cellphone commercial, I thought so too. ;) ]
