WoW on Linux?

Sep 17, 2010 13:37

I know that this is asked periodically, but I don't seem to be able to find the answer to my problem anywhere.

I have recently installed Ubuntu, 10.04 I think, and after a small break from WoW I think it's time to return.

So, does anyone know of any good and easy to follow guides for getting WoW to run on Ubuntu ( Read more... )

Wow, I had totally not even remotely thought about wowwiki...

If I wasn't having a break from WoW it would probably have been one of my first ports of call.

Cheers :-)

The guide that odiusxpopulis showed you was the guide I used to get WoW going under Ubuntu 10.4. I will mention two things:

1) Make sure you use the current version of Wine. Do not use Wine from the Ubuntu repositories, its too old. Get it from the Wine repositories itself.

2) The biggest "bug" I've encountered is usually having to exit out of Firefox before I run WoW or WoW's sound will not work. Once WoW is running I can rerun Firefox. This is a problem with Wine, I think, not WoW because the same behavior happens with other Windows programs under Wine in my environment.

Thanks, I'll bear this in mind.

I foolishly thought the version in Ubuntu's software centre would be the latest version...
