Son of a #@$%
My account was hacked this morning. All the gold and half the items held by my main and my bank alt are gone. I talked to a GM and I should expect to get everything back in a few days. So I'm not terribly worried about that...
But I am really worried about my computer now. I'm worried about other passwords and rl accounts that the hackers could now have access to... I ran a Norton scan (twice), but it turned up nothing. I tried to do a system restore, but for some reason it wont let me. The GM said the safest route is to do a clean system recovery, deleting all my files and restoring my computer to basic condition. I have long since lost the disk to do this, but I was told you can do this without the disk? But I dont know how to do that and if there is another way, I'd rather avoid it that all together and just fix the problem without tearing the whole computer apart.
Does anyone know of anything else I can do to be absolutely sure there is no virus or spyware on my computer that allowed this hack to happen?
