ITEM! i keep meaning to mention this: we had a visit from the jehovah's witnesses a week last sunday - not very unusual in itself but they said they were responding to a web enquiry, ie some prankster had sent 'em my name & address & asked 'em to call round - they were v.apologetic & said they were a bit suspicious themselves that it might not have been "a genuine enquiry" - presumably they feel obliged to follow up every lead ( even the dodgy looking ones ) just in case they can save that one extra soul
it wasn't much of an inconvenience to us ( - ie lazy as i yam, i can just abt answer the door & say "no thanks" without breaking into a sweat ) - but imo it was a bit mean to make 'em trek all the way over to putney on this fool's errand - i was gonna say: poor things having to get up early on a sunday to knock on doors but then i realised they didn't call until after midday ( - it was the morning after my pal hass's 50th birthday boozeup so we were "taking it easy", ie nursing hangovers in front of the telly - until we cld gird our loins to go to the pub for sunday lunch )
ITEM! i bought the news of the world for the first time in ages on sunday - to get the free hulk goody bag: a great big movie poster, digital watch(!) & gomic
the free gomic was the latest issue of mighty world of marvel ( vol.3 no.70 ) - british marvels have changed a bit since my day: 100 pages, cardstock cover, nice paper, reprinting four gomplete american gomics ( 1 defenders, 2 hulks, 1 she hulk ) for the price of one - goob value for money ( esp. when free ) - the title was a bit of nostalgia for me too as mighty world of marvel ( volume 1 no.3 from 1972 ) was one of my very earliest comics purchases
from the trailers the movie doesn't look very goob tho ( - hopefully this story might be a bit more fast paced than the "stan & ang lee presents" version but imo this cgi hulk looks worse than the previous 'un - still, i do like edward norton ( & the hulk ) so i'll be giving it a go
ITEM! i've been quite enjoying the new big brother so far - & the wacky wedding task certainly kept my attention & interest - i wonder if they'll be able to maintain "momentum" now it's over - i wish them upstairs at BB would realise that giving loads of ppl immunity from eviction takes some of the fun away - when everyone is up for grabs, the nominations are the best bits - o well, i guess lisa or mario ( or both of 'em ) will go on friday - i wish it was alexandra ( she's REALLY horrible ) or dennis
gurrently*, w.o.agwu likeum: kathreya, darnell, luke, mohamed, rachel & sexy rexy
* warning: these views can change at any time without notice, explanation or gommon sense ( - this warning should accompany every post i make on LJ, really )
according to the news of the world ( so it must be true ), as well as being a love rat, "mario marconi" ( real name: shaun astbury ) is also a reality tv serial offender - & the estranged brother of ian astbury out of the cult...! ( you can see the family resemblance if you look closely )
i haven't looked at this year's BBLB ( george lamb is so AWFUL on the radio it isn't exactly an encouragement to view - i like his dad on gavin & stacey tho ) or big brother's big mouth yet - why couldn't they have kept luvly dermot & russell & got rid of horrid gurning davina rather than the other way round...?
ITEM! i had an email yesterday from my pal
sinasham asking where he could find some painted jack kirby images of angels &/or archangels
the only thing that comes to my mind is the "jacob & the angel" print or portfolio kirby produced in the 1990s to accompany a statue he'd designed ( i think ) - or i guess some images of asgard, new genesis &/or supertown cld be quite "heavenly" - i've got a feeling i'm taking this query too literally & some lateral thinking is called for - anyone else got any ideas?
