ITEM! a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to
martinskidmore, 49 years young today - i was v.sorry to miss out on friday's celebrations - but was in no fit state to leave the house, laid up with a coldy fluey thing which is only just now going away ( - my head finally feels clear this morning, for the first time in nearly a week ) - hope everybody ( especially martin ) had a wonderful time

ITEM! i managed to snuffle & waddle as far as the bookies at the end of our road yesterday ( my first trip out of the house since tues ) - to put a bet on the derby - no luck tho: "my" horses washington irving & frozen fire came 5th & 11th respectively - on the plus side my pal kev had the winner ( - i should really learn to text him BEFORE i have my bet ) & no horse died ( afaik ) - o well, i haven't checked last nite's lottery ticket yet
ITEM! the apprentice: poor luvly lucinda ledgerwood...! - stitched up by alex in the boardroom - & suddenly we're having four finalists this series, tho only two of 'em oughta be there - lucinda ( real name: cindy burger ) certainly did deserve an adrian chiles spinoff programme all to herself tho - so that was nice
my preference for the apprentice final: 1st claire, 2nd lee, 3rd helene, 4th alex ( - the final show always tends to be a bit of an anti climax, i think )
ITEM! i haven't had much time to "study" big brother yet but judging by the crowd reaction on the entry show, the blind bloke's gonna win it, isn't he? ( - my early fave = the bangkok cookie monster lady )

ITEM! as much as i liked iron man, the best film i've seen in ages = the coen bros' no country for old men - awesome performance by javier bardem as psycho main baddie anton ( surname out of lovecraft's cthulhu ) - i also liked it cos the "producers wish to thank" bit in the end credits included "mr.hand"
