ITEM! shocked & appalled that bluddy parky ( w/his "everything was better in the old days", real ale, gricket & jamie gullum values ) got a knighthood in the new year honours but there was nothing more for britain's greatest entertainer, beloved bruce forsyth - o well, brucie is the people's "sir" in a "queen of all our hearts" type of way
btw, warmest w.o.agwu gongratulations to astrid peth, des lynam, mrs overall, sir ian mckellen & leslie phillips on their n.y. honours
ITEM! on christmas day morning our boy cat enzo joined in the festivities by being a little bit sick - not an unusual event in itself - but i did think it was v.christmassy that there were small pieces of tinsel in his vomit ( ie he'd been chowing down on some of our decorations ) - & when i cleaned out the cats litter trays a gouple of days ago i noticed some of the poo had little bits of tinsel sticking out - so at least it's making it all the way through his system & not causing any blockages ( praps tinsel = goob roughage for cats? )
in other news: neither cat tried to climb up our xmas tree this year - i guess they're getting too old for such shenanigans ( - a shame, in a way ) ( tho i don't miss trying to put the tree back up again afterwards )
ITEM! the best bit of "gone with the wind" ( bbc2, xmas day ) = when mammy finally wears the red taffeta petticoat that rhett butler bought for her - v.moving, i thort
ITEM! not that i'm gomplaining but i've obv mysteriously somehow got myself a reputation as something of a drinker, my xmas pressys included: 2 bottles of vodka, 2 bottles of benedictine, a 12 yr old single malt whisky, 1 bottle of red wine & two large drums ( 800g ) of maynards wine gums - sincere w.o.agwu thanks to all goncerned

ITEM! for someone who usually only goes to the football once per season ( the mighty arsenal are "my" team ), i've got a v.busy week coming up
sunday 6th january: fulham vs bristol rovers, fa cup 3rd round - a grudge match between
erkinpeaviss &
martinskidmore - i've been nominated to do my human airbag duty & sit between them to prevent any aggro - fulham = our local team, graven gottage = our local ground & i've never been ( - we're in the hugh grant end ), so that's q.exciting - i've never been to a fa gup game before either
wednesday 9th jan: arsenal vs t*tt*nh*m, garling gup semi final first leg - tickets gourtesy of a sp*rs supporting policeman friend of mine - if "our" second XI can beat the spuds improving first team then as fleetwood mac famously said "they will never break the chain" ( of arsenal victories )
saturday 12th jan: arsenal vs birmingham city ( - brum = my father in law's team ) - my traditional n.y. day out featuring lagers, the match, more lagers & a curry w/two of my many cousins ( - one of whom is coming over from ireland specially )
( then i get to "rest up" ( ie dry out ) for a week or so before i have to gird my loins for a gouple of morrissey performances at the roundhouse )
ITEM! surprised to see robert hardy reprise his turn as winston churchill in the boxing day repeat of a.christie's monkey faced marple "the sittaford mystery" - according to the imdb that's the sixth time he's played churchill on screen but the first for nearly 20 years - according to wikipedia ( so it must be true ), he's also a world renowned expert on the longbow
carey mulligan aka sally sparrow was in it too ( - the only thing i've seen her in apart from "blink" ) - not sure if she's any goob w/a longbow tho
ITEM! not being a fan, i was happy to miss the to the manor born xmas "special" ( - tho any reviews/reports wld be gratefully received ) but i did catch a little bit of "to the manor bowen" on living tv - where regency fop interior designer laurence llewelyn bowen, wife marlene & fambly have been forced to flee peckham for a gountry estate after grassing up infamous local villains the driscoll brothers
overall, i've been v.thankful for xmas repeats of celebrity masterchef - but even more so for the visit of the
giddyoldgoat all the way from bonny scotland - which made this festive period a special & memorable one for us all here at stately w.o.agwu mansion )
