Magnitude

I was looking through my old computer's hard drive and came across a bunch of poems that i wrote in high school. I guess that I stored them in the Magnitude folder just probably to give myself the slightest hope of feeling like it was literature. Some of the stuff was long, some of it was short.

Here is a long one:

Synthetic Rain

The silent pattering of synthetic rain
Loudly ascends from the uneven sky
Eating away at the sounds of grey
Politely asking, “how was your day?”

Here is a short one:

Bedtime Stories
There once was a duck named Buffalo Buck
He lived in a pond with friends
Who laughed and who played together all day
They were all gay and smug.

One day came a hunter named Big Tom the Grunter
He lived in a city near by
With big cars and big engines and big clouds of smoke
Puffing into the sad graying sky

Big Tom the Grunter walked down to a pond
Where Buffalo Buck had lived
And shot at the ducks that dropped one by one
Into his big bag of decay

“Oh no!” cried Buck, “my friends have all died
At the hand of this tyrannical man
Who swings his musket at defenseless young
Killing all who were in this clan

“If such tragedy,” continued Buck
“Is the rule of nature, then I must die with my friends
I must fly in the sky, clear to Big Tom’s eye
And let him shoot away.”

“Do not,” pleaded Buck’s mother,
“be so rash and throw out your life at whim
To end up on a stove in the city
with big knives digging into your skin.”

“You are right, mother dear” replied Buck thoughtfully
“I must warn the other ducks instead
For life is too short to quarrel and cry
And worry with regrets and unhappy ends.”

So Buffalo Buck, the great hero of the waters
Warned the ducks around
That the men were coming to cut their lives short
Instead of buying fresh meat in the markets.

All the ducks were grateful for Buck
Weary of the danger of their necks
So they hid and they protected all other ducks
And not one was ever found dead.

Well...yeah. I didn't know that I liked to write so much. I guess that it goes back to my
