Wow. How good can this get? Democrats take back the House. We are now officially once again a country that has a system of checks and balances as the Founders intended. No more One Party State with a rubber stamping legislature. That is amazing by itself. But then, gift of the gifts, Rumsfeld is out of power. And as icing that has not yet been put on the cake, but might very well still make it to the cake, the Senate may very well go to the Democrats as well. Good bye, John Bolton. Just watching Santorum lose was a highlight. What a good night!
Could it be that the US is moving in a direction that might move it back to not being the Asshole of the World?
Bush's America is like the rich, arrogant guy at the party who thinks he's just the shit. When, in reality, everyone else, even his "best friend," thinks that he's a total asshole. If everyone at the party including your friends thinks that you're an asshole, maybe it's time for a little introspection. You may, indeed, be an asshole.
And in my life, Friday night Indy was great fun once again. Once again, we got home early in the AM on Saturday morning. Saturday was my day off; I did nothing. Sunday I was supposed to leave for a conference in Columbus, OH at 4pm. At 3pm my aunt informed me by phone that my uncle (mom's side) has terminal cancer and has at most a month to live. Of course, mom moved to my town in September, which means that I had to be the one to be there while she learns that her big brother is dying, and dying quickly. So, I needed to hang around for a bit longer. I told the rest of my co-workers to leave without me, and I didn't end up getting into my hotel in Columbus until 11pm. Tuesday I chaired a session at the conference. I was glad when that was over.
Then last night B and M came over to watch the election results. The damn Senate competition was like being on a roller coaster with the Virgina and Missouri races switching back and forth. We were down, then up, then down, then up. Of course, right now we're stuck on top of the Senate roller coaster waiting to see just now long it will take to get moving again and reach the end of the ride. I wish Allen would show some character and concede. Of course, if he doesn't, I don't ever want to hear another Republican bitch about Gore and the recount in Florida in 2000. You will have zero right to bitch about that topic ever again.
