Bye Bye, Boris

Apr 24, 2007 00:17

It's a sober sad day in Russia today, as we mourn the passing out of our first President. His firm grasp of any shot glass within a hundred metres democratic principles proofed proved to the world he was a man under the table above board.

I raise my glass to him offer my deepest condolences to the family.

It is of course very sad, but let us be honest - no one will see the difference, really, ethyllic coma and rigor mortis aren't that different, are they?

No one will see the difference? You wouldn't be implying that perhaps he's been deceased for ages and we just hauled his body out for some kind of distraction?

You seem to think someone might care?

Erm, I wouldn't want to sound patronising or anything, but there are many more Russians out there?

Nothing patronising in facts - I just meant that it's as though they've lost their mascot. I personally wouldn't mind if a few more people would put down the bottle, but it's not likely to happen - if he'd passed away in his fifties, maybe, but around here 76 is a ripe old age.

Well, he was rich enough to afford the real stuff. Ever since you've raised taxes on alcohol your people tend to drink the kind of contraband stuff that ensures they don't live that long...

You think perhaps if I gave it out for free that would solve things? No matter what they can afford, they still drink themselves into the ground. At least the average drunkard has the decency not to hang around three quarters of a century.
