Finally got a Baja. Should have done it a few years ago when they were much cheaper, but that didn't work out. I'm paying out the nose, and hopefully I'll be able to refinance in a few months, but it's also a keeper. Ten years at least, probably put it on blocks at some point to wait for me to turn 60 to restore and have classic car fun with. It also has enough room in the back for car seats, so next car will be minivan or some such, not that big of a deal, and it gets much better mileage than a 4x4 truck, even something like a ranger.
I'm looking at going to Xander's housewarming party. Flying is looking cheaper than driving amazingly enough, so I might end up dealing with the proctologist exam to do that. Four hour flight versus 16 hour drive is appealing, though then I won't have the wheels to show off.
Need to call the realtor recommended to me, start looking around Casper. I'll probably end up staying down here a week or two longer than I was expecting to make sure I have enough money to transition smoothly. Big deal is finding somewhere to stay, and that partly depends on having a job to keep the bills paid when I get up there. I'm paying down debt, but it'll take a few more months to kill the petty stuff.
Wrote down reasons for going to Wyoming, and besides the land, it's mostly political and economic, which are mostly social. I've decided that my main need isn't so much land, as shop space for building my machines. 3D printing and robotics appeal to me, which are mostly CNC type stuff. In some ways Wyoming is a poor choice, but in this economy, especially making open source concepts for creating localized fabrication technologies that render traditional manufacturing obsolete.
