Q&A MEME per care of [info]gypsychick7
- Leave a comment saying "Cogito ergo nom."
- I'll respond by asking you five questions to satisfy my curiosity.
- Update your journal with the answers to your questions.
- Include this explanation and offer to ask other people questions.

1. What experience in your life has been the most faith strengthening?
Individually, the times when I've had answers to prayers, some not even thought of, when I doubt my worthiness to have it.

2. What have been your best and worse experiences with the internet?
Best: Finding and getting to know people like you. Worst: Finding out there really are stupid people. I'm drawing a blank on specific situations though.

3. What is the weirdest thing you would do for $100, $1000 $50,000 and $1 mil?
How should I know? This would take a "would you do **** for ****?" type thing.

4. You seem like the kind of person that would have planned out your perfect stronghold, I mean house, but stronghold in preparation for "armageddon". Describe it.
It would be build partway into a hill, somewhere in northeast Wyoming. Nice and spacious, with a dojo, machine and electronics shop, and barn, similar worked in. Architecture would blend the buildings into the landscape, as if they belonged. They might be obvious rather than concealed, but they'd look like they belonged there.

The house would probably be ranch style with a basement for storage, though a second story would leave more space on the first floor. It would sweep back in two wings, surrounding a courtyard/atrium, which would have a Japanese rock garden as the centerpiece, with similarly cultural designs for the rest. The dojo and some storage and entertainment stuff would be in that wing, and a deck would be able to extend the dojo floor into the garden. The other wing would be exclusively family space, having the main kitchen and living areas, maybe with sleeping areas on the upper floor. Upper floor on the other side would be special guest quarters.

The shop would be CNC and electronics, with the ability to recycle just about anything that comes in. The "green" stuff would be preferred, not because it's "green" but because it'd be easier to get and work with than toxic chemicals and rare materials. Foundry work, semiconductors, machining and sheet metal would be available. Also present, hopefully, would be a dense plasma fusion reactor to power the whole ranch.

The barn would be more than a barn, it would be a kennel among other things animal. Dogs can pull carts as well as sleds. Horses would also be present, though I can't see keeping a lot of them. Goats and rabbits and guinea pigs would be livestock, providing meat, milk and fur. All the husbandry stuff would be focused on the building. A cow or two might be present too, but the neighbors would also have such things, and a certain amount of specialization would be preferable.

Robotic greenhouses would provide a lot of food, and the surrounding area would be set up for native permaculture( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permaculture ) to augment them, as well as for grazing.

There would also be two or three bunkhouses, both as guest quarters as well as for permanent staff. Townhouse like setups would allow for married couples and families.

Did I mention a vacation house on the moon?(seriously, don't say "when you build me a house on Mars" or something like that to prove my love, I'd actually go and try to do it.)

5. In your idea of a "realistic" post apocalyptic world, what caused the apocalypse? What is the world like?
You're asking the fun questions. I can see a limited nuclear strike by China, as they try to destroy our ability to help Taiwan, and a yellow belly president(like the current one) refusing to respond properly(what's left after years of bankruptcy anyway). This would mostly be on the west coast, and naval assets. They'd have limited interest in us after that for a while. In the meantime, a few more detonations by terrorists armed by an overthrown Pakistan and Iran, though those would mostly help by destroying the larger cities. There would probably also be an epidemic of some kind at this point.

Small town America would fare pretty well, save for food shortages. City refugees would be a plague for perhaps a couple hundred miles around their cities--only the best and/or most ruthless would get much farther. People will adapt as they always do, though I think several regions would cede from Washington, which wouldn't be able to do anything about it. The southwest would become Aztlan, the SE the Confederacy again, Texas would probably try to make a go of it, the northeast would pretend to keep being "the land of the free" under a now clearly socialist/kleptocratic government, the mountains would go as well(me with them) and the midwest would be divied up or be no-man's land. Obviously some places will be freer than others.
