Hello Backpackers!
I'm planning on leaving mid-March and returning late April from a six-week-long trip through Thailand and Vietnam. Originally I had hoped to see parts of Laos, but I feel too limited by time. Weep...
Here's a look at what my itinerary looks like:
A little under three weeks in Thailand to see Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and the Islands/Beaches - any suggestions as to which is best? Ideally, I'd like something I could get to by train from Bangkok if possible.
A few days in Cambodia to see Angkor Wat.
Three weeks in Vietnam with stops in Saigon, Dalat, Nah Trang, Hoi An, Hue, Hanoi, Sapa, and Halong Bay.
Questions:
Has anyone done this route and can you offer any helpful information?
Will Thailand require a Visa? I know Vietnam does, but should I get it in Thailand or here in the States?
What vaccinations will be required? I know, I know..I'll ask a doctor..
Where have you gone for travel insurance?
Thanks for any help! I've been researching so much my brain hurts, but sometimes it's easier to just talk to other real life people who have done this.
