Issues

Yes, I have some.

However, I am specifically referring to transportation issues.

I like doing things and going out places, the issue is that I need to be able to get to whereever whatever I want to do is going on.

I do not have a car and, for a variety of reasons, don't want one. They're expensive to buy, run, maintain and store. I don't like driving, and on principle I don't like them or the industries connected to them. I recognize that I'm going to have to, eventually, get a car because you can't really do much in this society without one, but for now I'm holding off.

I have a bike, which is considerably less expensive to run than a car and easier to store. The issue is that it doesn't function as well in inclement weather.

I have feet, but these are slow and can be unpleasant in inclement weather.

The bus works, but isn't the most convenient, thanks to routes not always going where I want to go and often ceasing service before whatever I'm doing is done.

There are a variety of ways, such as taxis and rental services, through which I could get a car on a temporary basis, but these can be expensive and seem a bit excessive.

I have friends who have cars. However, I don't seem to be able to tell which ones mind and don't mind giving me rides. Some don't seem to bat an eyelash at carting me around, while others feel imposed upon if I ask. This is compounded by the fact that, aside from seeing them, I can't contact some of them.

Big question: How does one politely ask people if they can give you a ride without making them feel imposed upon?
