Update and Arkham Horror

Words typed: 108,000 (12,000 more to reach my goal!)

Car: currently mobile despite numerous difficulties. Have to take it in for its emission test again. Had to drive it to work today because the trains completely broke down and I definitely had work that needed to be done. Going to be exciting heading home. I'm thinking maybe I'll work late and head out at 6, hopefully missing most of rush hour.

Spotty's Game meet: A success once again, with far more people than he'd anticipated since we got up to 12 on short notice. Nearly won a game of Apples to Apples. The stars must have aligned or something, because I suck at that game. No, I shall credit the puppy. It was sitting between me and Spotty (who did win) on the couch. Puppy provides mana! And later led to Nora winning Carcassone.  I think it was also sitting next to Bob when he won US Patent #1. A generally good time was had by all, including the puppy.

Arkham Horror: Nora and I have finally suffered defeat, once by Galakki (stupid followers of Galakki) and once by a creature from Kingsport that I can't remember off hand but who requires rolling focus and is quite nasty. I think we could come up with strategies to defeat these, but I'm not inclined to play with either again any time soon. We stell have plenty of othe Elder Gods we haven't fought.

Tried out the Black Goat expansion. We actually managed to avoid fighting the Elder God at the end (which is odd since it requires a doom token added for every monster surge). We sealed gates quickly. Black Goat seems like it's best used as the focus of the game and should be taken out when not specifically using that Herald.  It was an okay expansion, but not one I'd use frequently.

Completed test runs of all characters in Dunwich and Kingsport. Two surprises in the Kingsport expansion of characters that worked better than expected: the little girl (great killer of elusive monsters) and the cursed reporter (must just make it a priority to get him uncursed ASAP) . Also had the fastest possible game with these characters (plus the bounty hunter and politician from Kingsport), all gates were closed in about 8 rounds due to surges/no new gates opening. Actually played two games that night.

Best expansion is definitely King in Yellow. I'm now looking forward to the release of Innsmouth Horror this May. I hope to have my AT&T rebate by that point and will spend it on that.

Let's see, other than that, realtors not getting back to me about a piece of property I want to see. Do they not want to sell the place? The location is perfect for me, so I'm rather miffed. Need to go get myself pre-approved for a loan again since my approval has run out (it was only good for 3 months).

Have watched:
Futurama (Seasons 2-4) - I like about 80% of it and would recommend it)
The Country Girl - wierd old film mom sent for Easter with Grace Kelly (who won the Oscar for it) and Bing Crosby, quite the downer and nothing like the title)
Slings & Arrows (Complete Series) - Canadian comedy series about putting on a Shakespearian theater festival. I highly recommend it if you're in the mood for dark wit, the main character is either going insane or talking to the ghost of his former friend that he got in a huge fight with.
