My 100 year old antique watch just fixed itself. Its been broken since mid 1998. I took it out to debate having it fixed and it suddenly started ticking again after I closed the lid.
For those of you wondering, it is a lady's version of the gentleman's pocket watch. It is just as big, but hangs from a chain to wear around the neck. Typically these watches were owned by teachers. Mine has a second inset clock face to keep track of the seconds. And for those of you who know about gems, no there were no diamonds in the inner workings, though such watches sometimes held up to seven of them.
I set the time and will have to see what happens when it gets to the point where I need to wind it again.
