A is for Argentina

Dec 20, 2008 18:50

Right. I can't keep up with posting everyday. So, as reasonably suggested by one reader, I will post less often. I think I'm going to try for twice a week. Maybe Sunday night (UK time) and Wednesday night (UK time). We'll try that for a while. To make up for the long stretch of unexplained silence, I'll post Argentina now instead of tomorrow.

We'll start with an overview from Lonely Planet and another from BBC. Plus a site for tourists, yet very comprehensive.  Also, a site that appears to be the official Argentina Tourism site.

A page of links to sites concerned with the history of art in Argentina.

Above is a video of two people from Argentina dancing the tango.  A dance which, according to Argentour.com, actually was invented by people living in poverty in the 1880s.  It allowed them to express the difficulties they experienced.

A very interesting and dedicated group, Abuelas de Plaza de Maya is worth a look as it gives some human insight into the history of Argentina.

Possibly more to follow...
