Oh how I wish I could do like that TV show and backstep seven days into the past. Sometime during Sunday night/Monday morning, the rear window of my car was smashed. The funny thing is that nothing was taken. The window was just smashed. And I had no idea until I'd gotten a call from Paul who'd just gotten back from Florida and was down in the parking lot of my apartment. What made the situation even better is that a nice rain/sleet mixture had just started to come down.
So I called the cops and got and insurance claim number and started to brainstorm how I could get the damn thing back to Owosso where I could get it into the shelter of a garage. I wound up duct taping some plastic garbage bags over the gaping hole. But I found that this wouldn't cut it as soon as I hit Grand River and got up to 35. So Paulie and I make a stop at Meijer and get some plastic paint floor covering shite and duct tape that as best we can to the now thoroughly wet car (on the outside and slowly becoming the same on the inside).
So I start to take Old 78 back rather than I-69 since I really didn't trust that plastic and a bunch of glass behind my head at 70mph. About halfway to Perry, two corners rip off and becomes insanely loud. So I pulled off to the side and Paul jumped out to pull the plastic off and throw it into the trunk. So the rest of the way it was quiet and the view out the back was crystal clear...anyway, I hit 52 and a quarter of a way down that, I run into a line of about 8 cars going 35 down the slightly wet and slushy road. We even hit 25 at one point.
I get back to my place and open the garage. I jump into the van to pull it out of the garage, turn the key and the starter doesn't even turn. Dead battery. Sooo that meant pushing that heavy ass thing out of the garage. I jumped it off my brother's car and we move cars around.
I finally get around to calling my parents. Needless to say, they're anything but happy to hear of this fantastic news. In the end, I am pretty much forever banned from taking any of their cars to Lansing to be vandelized again. And I couldn't take my brother's car because he's got only PLPD on that and if something happened to it, he'd be up shit creek.
And then Tuesday sucked because at work I had to be out in the freezing ass cold for two hours running around after half crazed horses because they had to be bitches and run away before the lead rope could be detached from their harnesses. Out of the two that ran off with them, we managed to recover one and left the other because we chased it around for at least an hour. The thing would wait until we were about five feet away and then bolt off. So if some time during the night it started to run and stepped on the lead rope causing it to fall and break its neck...it's not my problem.
Today was crap because I went back to Owosso since I had to pick up the family from the Flint airport and I had to give the van a jump again. So my guess is that the battery is bad. But, now that the Rents are back, it's their car so it's their problem and not mine. After all, it's not like I'll be taking the thing to Lansing any time soon.
So all in all, this causes me to need to rely on people for transportation and such. And I really really hate having to rely on people. Because it's never known if suddenly at the last second something's going to come up. Or sometimes people forget things. Or sometimes people plain out don't give a damn. And the list goes on. I'm going to have to get a motorcycle or something. Because insurance for cars is a killer in its own. And if I get a bike...well then I'll have to get really good at riding on snow and ice I guess. Cross that bridge when it comes. Well, I'm out now. Hopefully this week turns brighter...
