Right. I realise not all of you come from climates or time periods where you'd be aware of sun damage, but I'm getting way too many burns in the clinic turning out to be the simple result of overzealous beach time.

Lets learn how to be sun smart.

We all know what the sun is. Big yellow ball in the sky, makes things bright and warm during the ( Read more... )

I've been in America most of my life.

If you expect nothing then nothing should be expected of you. Otherwise, the relationship isn't so casual at all.

Still makes you an observer, but good enough.

Everybody has expectations. I'm just trying to establish the median.

Do you consider mutual non-commitment an expectation?

It's obviously an expectation, but there are degrees to it. Never talking about it again non-commitment. Leaving before or after breakfast non-commitment. Exclusive non-commitment.

Boundaries are laid down when you fear you're incapable of holding up your end of the deal. In that case you're only dedicated to non-commitment as long as you can keep the risk of committing at bay.

Anyone truly dedicated fears nothing.

Dedicated to non-commitment. Sounds like a classic contradiction in terms.

You should try it sometimes if you have a problem maintaining 'casual' relationships.

Yes, briefly.

I don't have a problem.

Briefly? No nostalgia for the mother country?

Your curiosity says otherwise.

It was during the war. I was born. Then we left.

No, my curiosity says I have an interest.

My parents had a similar idea. They left. Then I was born. Turned out the war never came. Different country of course.

Are you interested in pursuing or are you the pursuit?

You went farther than I did. I went to New York.

Neither, anymore. Think I got caught.

Actually, I went to New Jersey.

And you're still curious?

You've been in New Jersey for less than a third of your life, that or your New Jersey is vastly different from mine and that's entirely possible.

I'm curious about what other people expect from the general arrangement.

I've been in Jersey for roughly a tenth of my life. The accent's one of the things I'm not intending on picking up.

So you'll learn what other people might expect from you.

Do you like it there?

Can't hurt to canvass opinions.

I like it enough. It's not home, which is good. And strange. You're always an observer.
