[The camera clicks on in the interior of a wood-board hut on the beach. Its door is open to display a beautiful waterside sunset but, as the viewer is shown around, it's the internal details that become the focus. The walls are lined with racks of gleaming surfboards, on gleaming rails, on wood scrubbed and varnished until it's started... yes, ( Read more... )

[ Of late her mind has been weighed on heavily in many respects...but she has also had spaces of calm that really would more accurately be called numbness.

This post has happened during one of those, for better or for worse, and some of her delayed reaction is of course her own thoughts and words getting tangled up in themselves, each version of 'wait what?!' vying for its first chair space. ]

[ ...then she checks the network. Because they haven't the foundation for this and logically she knows that as appealing as a man who has to stay clean is, they don't know each other. You can't love someone you don't know, right? ...well, she tries not think of Will here, for all the things she does know, because there is every likelihood there are a dozen she doesn't, or didn't, rather. Anyway, such a nice, clean place on the beach. It will be nice to visit after he's been returned to his normal self, if the offer is still there.

And affirmative, the network check says it's a curse after all, of course. Such spontaneous feelings...well she doesn't expect them from Chase at least, certainly.]

I haven't been there myself. Yet.

You like sevens? [He's just going to file this away with the... surprising lack of information he has about what things might please her.] It's funny, I thought you might have a thing about evens. You know seven is symbolic across more faiths and cultures than any other number? And now most people couldn't tell you why they think it's lucky. Millennia of history and mysticism boiled down into stone skipping.

[He's talking too much, which is a sure sign of nerves (the alternative being to clam up which would do him no good right now) but, Emma, no comment, really?]

[Well except for the church part, which makes him more shuffly and awkward still. But hopeful. Ridiculously hopeful, or he'd never have gone.]

There's no clergy, at the church, couldn't speak to anyone. I just took up space for a while, um.

[Stopping for breath before he stutters over his words.]

I was taught that you have to give of yourself before you ask for anything. And I've been asking without really thinking about it, so I... wanted to... I thought it was time.

[ She just pauses for a very long time. Understandably, he's cursed and no amount of naysaying is going to tell him otherwise, much less convince him of it. ]

I like my things in evens. My superstitions are...a bit...well...I'm pretty sure they're founded in um eight year-old...logic. If you can even call it that.

Uh.

That's true, I mean, not just with a choice of faith, which is...you know, different for...different for everyone, of course, but...that...

Well I just...it definitely can apply to other things too, a sort of you get what you give...take.

[ Except that...that is not always true, and she knows that too. ]

Anyway...I...um...
