Okay, this is one of those buck-up-and-get-over-it days. The rain that has been been drenching the north coast on and off for the last two weeks is subsiding. Tomorrow through Friday, sunshine with temps peaking at 74 tomorrow and high sixties the rest of the week.
D's birthday tomorrow, the weekend we'll go see the kids in Sacramento.
I have enough hope and promise to get me through the week. No class tonight(spring break)and making awesome progress in cleaning up office/studio. (It's functioned as neither.)
I had two tests last week, mid term for the counseling class, and the next day, the test to become a "census enumerator". Today, I have a pre-interview with the Grace Hudson Museum director. There's an opening for a receptionist. In two years of severe unemployment and underemployment, I'm thinking now that I'm getting a head start on those jobs that yuppie retirees are anticipating. Part-time work at wine-tasting rooms, bookstores, galleries and -- museums. Except for me, it won't be to augment my retirement, but to maintain life-support.
Lowered expectations.
Foster licensing almost complete, though not committed yet. We have one five year old now; the informal placement to help a friend out. Her 14 y/o son went back home when he was suspended again and got three F's two D's and a C- on his report card. We didn't have authority to make sure his homework was complete and follow up with teachers. (We agreed he could stay with us the week so he could get to school on time - the family lives seven miles out of town.) We told his mom that he wouldn't succeed unless he had academic and other counseling. Boundaries and agreements. When that happened, we could all meet together and negotiate an agreement.
Anyway. Sunshine on my back - and some other things (like doing the taxes), but I'll get into that later.
