ETA Someone has raised doubts about the legitimacy of the fundraising site. I cannot guarantee it. However, MSNBC links to a different site where her family are collecting donations. Benefits at her father's new job hadn't kicked in yet, so she is uninsured.

And apparently she's doing astonishingly well.

Has anyone verified that that donation site is legit? I found this one linked from an NBC story, and they don't seem connected.

I can't see comments on about half the journals I read, so I don't know if someone else said this. I gave some money at the gofundme site, after I saw a link from a Texas LGBT group who said that family and friends had legitimized it. abostick59 and I are going to a wedding this afternoon where the principals requested donations to gay marriage advocacy organizations, but I would rather do this, and I know they will be fine with it.
