Holiday Thoughts

There's always a lot to be thankful for, but I'll try to list the big things:

1) My daughter is having a great time her first semester in college--and is home for the holiday.

2) I am following my dream career and, while I'm not making a mint (or even a full-time salary, yet), I'm doing better every year.

3) I have gotten to meet some wonderful people through my work--students who have discovered that they want to finish high school, go to college, and help other people, the adults who've helped these students make that discovery, and so many other people who are following their passion and making it the focus of their life.

4) The community I live in is truly a community, with volunteers doing all sorts of things for all sorts of other people and the community in general, a place where people are willing to engage in civil discourse and leave, perhaps not agreeing, but respecting each other's right to an opinion.

5) My family, the two parents I am lucky to still have, my sister and her family, my husband of 28 years and our daughter, as well as his father, sister, and brothers.

This year, life is good.

thanks, thanksgiving
