Where I live, this is how we celebrate the Fourth of July.
With a parade that opens like this way,
There's music,
This is a Hanaford's Fife & Drum Corps and can they play!
but it's not all bands.
The Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Daisy Scouts march and throw candy.
There's plenty of floats
The volunteer Fire Department gets all spiffed up
And when the parade is over, everyone heads for the school playing fields.
(That's the back of HH's head in the left corner.)
There we enjoy fried dough (the only place I ever eat it), hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream--all the goodies
(Note the ambulance strategically placed next to the fried dough booth, and the haze over the a burger grill.) No photos of the fried dough because, well, um, I was too busy drooling and then stuffing my face.
We eat while we wait for the main event--the frog jumping contest. I don't have a good enough zoom and the frogs moved too fast. However, not all frog jumpers are amphibians
Some pretty good form, there!
Where I live, that's how we celebrate the day this country decided to think for itself.
