Celebrate (I)independence, but as you do, remember, John Donne was right--No man, woman or country is an island. Except Indonesia, which is lots of them, and New Zealand, which is two.
Yes, we need to, should, stand on our own. But we do not do so alone.
Where would we be without France? Without Lafayette? Without Poland, and Kosciusko?
