One of the books I'm editing just moved a step closer to publication. I laid out the thumbnails and figured out how long it's going to be. Do you all know how many pages of frontmatter there can be in a book? It's half a signature for this one.
I also went through and marked where any images will be inserted. In the process I discovered another paragraph is needed in one section. Sometimes it seems as though a book is never finished until it is printed.
But that's part of the process. It's also another reason why I have no desire to self-publish. I want someone else to do for my work all the stuff I'm doing. That way I can concentrate on the writing and revising and the stuff that really matters--the story.
No work on my own stuff this week. Beloved daughter (you know who you are) was home for a week's vacation, plus I had to a) write a quiz, 2) give the quiz, and III) correct the quiz. Plus shoveling out from the snow we got.
Oh well, I've got writers' group tomorrow. Whee! Having a critique on the next chapter of my wip counts as writing, right?
