Two years and three months of pure boy - except when he excitedly grabs at the pink fairy dress at the store... hmmm. The daycare said he's 90% potty trained. We have seen no evidence of this. We sit him on the pot, but nothing happens. He goes without giving any warning. I've now changes so many wet and/or messy pull-ups that we just bought a box of diapers. We have no idea how long we'll have him. Could be a couple days, could be 3 to 6 months, could be anything. The 72 hour hearing is next week and then we'll have somewhat of a better idea, but still it's always a guess. So who knows whether we'll have him for Thanksgiving. His speech is delayed, but he has a lot going on up in that noggin of his, and he talks about everything all the time - we just can't understand! What we can understand is that he misses his mom very much. It breaks our heart, but what do you do? We've tried to explain that Mama can't take care of him now, so now he's got two different moms to do the job until his mama can. I'm not sure how much of this he's understood. But when the energy audit guy was here today he went up to him and said, "Mama bye-bye. Two mama," and then looked at me and then looked at K, so maybe he's got it. Still doesn't stop him from missing her, but again, what do you do. He's waking up an awful lot during the night still - really, we were very spoiled with Peanut sleeping through from the first night on unless she was sick. We went out today and used the $50 of W*l-m@rt (can't believe that's the only option they give)gift card on clothes for the little tyke, plus another $100 on various things that we needed. Boy the money goes fast with a little one around. I'd forgotten just how quickly. Oh! I forgot to say - this one eat. I mean, Peanut ate, but only with much cajoling and often downright bribery. But he wants breakfast immediately when he wakes up (at 6:30am - help me get used to this again) and then wants more. He didn't seem to stop grazing until we got in the car to go to the store at 11am. We had lunch at Panera and he proceeded to eat 3/4 of his grilled cheese, half of his yogurt, half an apple, and about a fourth of a roll. All non-stop. Two-fisted. Only put one thing down to grab something else! K and I just stared at each other. We have not had a child who actually eats. It is bizarre. While we have not yet given him cookies, I think that will be his nickname. After Cookie Monster. He shows that much enthusiasm.
