All of my comic book friends (that's the friends who are into comic books, not the friends who come from comic books) already know this, but for the rest of you...
Saturday is Free Comic Book Day. That means you can go into practically any comic shop in the country and they'll have an assortment of brand-new, completely free comics for you.
Highlights this year include a brand-new Spider-Man comic (written by Dan Slott and drawn by Phil Jimenez - trust me, that means it's good) from Marvel and a collection of a bunch of never-before-reprinted Peanuts comic strips from Fantagraphics. Those are just the big ones, though. There will be dozens of free comics from many different publishers, age-appropriate for children to adults.
(Please note this doesn't mean that all the comics in the store are free. Just the ones created for this event - don't worry, they'll be clearly marked.)
If your local comic shop isn't participating, I want you to do me a favor and never shop there again.
