They lay in bed, facing away from each other. Although it was only a queen sized bed, the space between them felt like miles.
‘So you are not leaving her?’ Cuddy asked the blank wall in front of her.
‘No.’ House replied, regretting the word as it came out of his mouth.
‘I don’t understand.’
‘What can I say? Stacy is my wife. I love her.’
‘But you love me too.’ It was a statement, but Cuddy’s inflection made it sound like a question.
‘Haven’t I always?
House turned and pulled her close. ‘Nothing changes about that. We never change.’
