I agree with you in that a lot of fanfic (in this fandom and for this pairing, anyway) seems to jump from how things are in the series, to how things COULD be after several months, with little to no in-between. I much prefer the more realistic approach. :)

Hi! A friend of mine linked me to your story. I just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying it so far. This is the first longer OUAT fic I've read (I only fell in love with the show a few weeks ago, as difficult as that is for me to believe now). Thank you! For such awesome characterization, for a beautiful, believable turn of events after the season 1 finale, and for Regina slamming a door with her hands alone and proving that yes, she is back and so is all magic. And for having Emma stand up to Henry for Regina, something I've been wanting to see since the very beginning.

Thank you SO much! I really appreciate such a warm comment. This is the very first OUAT fic I've ever written, so admittedly I was a little worried that the characterization/pacing might be a little off right out of the gate. Happy to hear that that doesn't seem to be the case.

(Also, I've always wanted to see Emma stand up to Henry on Regina's behalf too! What can I say - Regina is my favorite character!) :D

Aw -- no, you've got the characterization letter perfect. One of my favorite recent moments was the way, when Regina was hit by memories of Daniel, she didn't fight it immediately but she also didn't lose her grace (like Emma was noticing at the beginning) -- Regina showed herself as human for a few minutes and then turned it off like a switch.

This is great. I've been meaning to read some Swan Queen Fics and this is my first time reading this pair. Great characterization, great relationship development and your plot has me wanting to know what happens next. Can't wait to see more.

Thank you so much! It makes me so happy to hear that the characterization and development is a-okay with everybody. So many of the Swan Queen fics I've read took Emma and Regina from reluctant tolerance (like they are in the series), to a sudden all-consuming love for each other with very little development in between. And sadly, I could never get into those. I'm a stickler for characterization, so I wanted to go with the slow approach on this one. :)
