So the weekend was painting stuff outside for my grandparents on Saturday then a family party on Sunday.
TODAY WAS DRUMS ALONG THE WATERFRONT.
It was amazing. Funnest thing all summer. The visuals! And...the mallet players! They were incredible. So fast. And the drummers! I love watching the drumlines, because all of the sticking within each line for each instrument is the same, and they get their sticks really high.

It was a competition, and the corps ranked in reverse order of performance order. The Santa Clara Vanguard won, and the Cadets were second by less than a point. I really liked the SCV's drill design, but I liked the Cadets more because they had amazing visuals. It was really impressive. I also liked the band that came in 2nd last, the Mandarin something. Their show went really well with their music.
If I had started on percussion instead of violin (i wish...) I would've so tried out for that. Amazing. Everyone in it is 21 or under, and they spend their summers traveling all over the US and Canada competing.
I think that it would be really fun to design shows. Fredonia has a class for it but it is rarely offered.
