it's a toofer, here's sick!

When did “sick” become a buzzword of the youth, and how much am I aging myself by even using such a phrase as “buzzword of the youth”?

Back in my day, kiddos, the word was BAD. Everything that was good was bad. New video game? Bad! Those Converse All-Stars are baaaaad, dude. Did you check out that car? It is BAAAA-AAAD! Parents didn’t understand us. Grandparents questioned our judgment. It was like some secret circle that existed among kids, almost as secret as the circle that spoke only in Pig-Latin.
Oops, I mean Ig-pay Atin-lay.

So is this the mark of old, when suddenly the words that kids use to describe things seem alien and nonsensical? Because why would you want something that is SICK? Do you want to get sick too? Because I don’t. And if your Xbox is sick, maybe you should get it fixed?

One day my husband looked at me and told me he designed a Mini Cooper online and that it was sick. I told him that (a) if it’s sick then it’s not worth $25,000 and (b) wouldn’t he prefer just to call it bad like the rest of the people his age?
