so so proud~
yesterday my brother did something that made me even more proud that he is my brother.
his friend came out to him, telling him he was gay.
this is how he told me it happened (btw, my brother is 17).
his friend came to him, saying he had something to tell him.
he asked him what.
he said "i'm gay."
my brother said he looked at him and said "okay, so?"
his friend looked at him, shocked and asked "that's all?"
he said "yeah, it's not like you said you have a bomb strapped to your chest and you want to blow us up. so yeah. that's all."
his friend looked at him and said "okay."
he asked him "what was all the drama for? it's not like being gay is contagious."
he replied "i was scared to tell you."
my brother said "well, so long as you aren't gonna try to kiss me, we're good."
he said his friend laughed and said "i was also kinda scared to tell you because you go to church and all."
then my brother told him "well, if Jesus loves you and you're gay, then as you friend i can love you too."
( i just about died here because that was so sweet~)
he said he told his friend to give him a hug and then "lets go eat lunch."

i knew my brother wasn't one to be mean if something like that happened, but hearing it with my own ears makes me so proud of him there are a million and one ways he could have handled this and how he did makes me beam with pride! he told me he was a little embarrassed about the hug, but he said "you and mom hug people when they feel scared, so i thought i'd do it too. it was awkward, but he's my friend so it's okay." he handled it very maturely, and i'm glad he is growing up to be such a good guy.
