Roll for Initiative?

Last night was FYE's Halo 3 midnight opening.  Me, Kasey and Daniel were there from 11:30 to 1:30.  Wasn't terribly exciting actually.  I expected twice as many kids to come over with their moms to pick up the game.  We only had around 10.  Mostly college kids, but one like 50 year old man.  He got his first.  It was kinda funny.  Everyone just stepped out of his way as he walked to the register.  I'm not sure if it was out of fear or reverence.

I also am equally ashamed and defensive that one of my bosses at Spencers begged and pleaded and broke me down to finally playing D & D with him and some other guys at work.  It's actually pretty fun.  They don't take it incredibly seriously, just hanging out while playing really.  No one has to use their "character names" or fake accents or dress up or any of that shit.  You are also pretty hard pressed to find something to do on Sunday nights around here.  Especially something that is free.  Erin also comes with me and has a good time so thats gotta something right?
Now that I've said all that I'll hit you with about 10 tons of dork.  I'm a half human half elf druid named Kraziv that travels with: a wolf animal companion, Letum the human fighter, I forgot the rouges name, and Cora the female barbarian.  We are currently in the middle of a goblin cave.  We were hired to clear out the goblins and bring back proof they won't mess with the travelers any more.  I don't know what proof we have to get, but we did read some journal entry of a goblin we killed and there is a black dragon in this cave.
dragons are scary
black dragons more so
black dragons enslaved by goblins are extremely frightening
a possibly undead black dragon lich previously enslaved by goblins and pissed off . . . It seems unfair to a bunch of noobs
