What are my odds? or Are you embarrassed easily?

Some guy in front of me at Rabba's today bought 15 Lotto 649 tickets (with the extra bonus Encore or whatever it's called). I could hardly believe my ears. I've stopped buying lotto tickets after realizing I'd sooner get struck by lightening. Twice. It's just an odds game.

On a different note, you know that little front pocket above the right pocket in most jeans? Well, this afternoon I met this attractive young woman at my bus stop who had two Tampax tampons sticking out of this pocket in her jeans. I figured she probably just quickly shoved them in there on her way out the door and forgot to slip into her purse. It was so obviously visible to me but I didn't want to say anything.

As an interjection thought: I read this week in dose that one of the best places to meet someone is at the bus stop.

Well, we ended up travelling to the subway together and chatting along the way, while the tampons remained sticking out of her jeans. I didn't want to say anything for fear of embarrassing her (and myself). Not that I'm embarrassed by tampons. No, not at all. Not me. I've bought them for my ex-girlfriends on occasion and even asked total strangers for a tampon when my then-girlfriend was desperately in need of one. But this scenario just didn't seem right to bring up the obvious to the oblivious.

After all, she told me that she was going to work at a TV studio, where she was the audience coordinator. Surely someone would've spotted her tampons before she went on air. Maybe she'd have needed to use one of them by then? In any case, I kept mum and let her carefree conversation and beautiful eyes distract me until it was time to say goodbye.

So I get on the same bus on my way home tonight and guess who I see? Yep. Tampon Girl. How likely is that? It's not even a weekday! Perhaps I ought to buy a lottery ticket.

P.S. And no, I didn't mention the tampon this time either. Although I bet we'd both have a really good laugh about it. ;o)

What would you have done?

lottery, bus stop, girl, serendipity, stranger
