Canadian celebrities matched wits and words at the 3rd Annual
SCRABBLE® with the Stars tournament at the historic St. Lawrence Hall in Toronto last night.
Peter Kent, former Global TV news anchor, hosted the event in support of the Performing Arts Lodges (PAL) Toronto.
Celebrity players included Colin Mochrie, Michael Burgess, Jeanne Beker, Jaymz Bee, Dave Broadfoot, Dinah Christie, Jennifer Dale, Arlene Duncan, C. David Johnson, R.H. Thomson, Sharon Hampson and Lois Lilienstein.
Three players sat at each table for four, complemented by a celebrity player. Prizes included dinner with a celebrity at a local gourmet restaurant, tickets to leading theatres, a skippered sail for two on Lake Ontario, autographed books and games.
The services of former Canadian and World Scrabble Champion Joel Wapnick, and top-rated Canadian woman Scrabble player Robin Pollock Daniel, were auctioned off for $1000.
PAL is dedicated to assisting members of the Canadian entertainment industry in health and affordable accommodation. It operates PAL Place Toronto, home to more than 200 retired and active workers in film, theatre and television.
